Economic Affairs Ministry Fights Back Hack
Islamabad, 9 May 2025 – Pakistan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs confirmed on Friday that it has successfully regained control of its official X (formerly Twitter) account after it was compromised by unidentified hackers overnight.
In an official statement, the Ministry assured the public that prompt action was taken to secure the account and restore normal operations. The breach, which caused concern among followers and stakeholders, is currently under investigation, with authorities working to identify the source of the hack.
The Ministry further stated that all necessary cybersecurity protocols have been reviewed and enhanced to prevent any similar incidents in the future. “We take the digital safety of our communication platforms very seriously,” a spokesperson said. “The integrity of government communication is vital, and we have implemented additional safeguards to ensure continued security.”
The Ministry also encouraged citizens to rely on verified sources for official updates and to report any suspicious activity found on its social media handles.
