Thunderstorms to Soak Karachi
Karachi Weather Alert: Rain, Thunderstorms Expected from May 5
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rainfall and thunderstorms in Karachi starting the evening of May 5. The weather system is expected to bring wet conditions for one to two days, accompanied by strong winds, particularly on Saturday afternoon.
In addition to Karachi, several parts of upper Sindh and Balochistan are likely to be affected by the unstable weather. Cities including Sukkur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, and Larkana may experience thunderstorms and gusty winds as the system moves through the region.
Despite the expected rainfall, most parts of Sindh will continue to experience hot and dry conditions. However, increasing humidity levels will intensify the heat, making the temperatures feel even higher. In Karachi, the maximum temperature is forecast to reach around 37°C.
The impact of this weather system is not limited to Sindh and Balochistan. Rainfall and thunderstorms are also expected in parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding to the countrywide shift in weather patterns.
Residents are advised to stay updated with official weather advisories and take precautions against strong winds and potential urban flooding in low-lying areas. The PMD continues to monitor the system closely and will issue timely updates as conditions evolve.
This change in weather comes as a relief to some areas dealing with persistent heat, but it also brings challenges such as traffic disruptions, power outages, and the risk of localized flooding. Authorities are urged to ensure readiness for the incoming rain and winds.
