Vance on India-Pakistan: Stay Out
Washington, 9 May 2025 — US Vice-President JD Vance has made a clear and firm statement regarding the rising tensions between India and Pakistan, saying the conflict is “fundamentally none of our business.” Speaking during a press briefing at the White House, Vance underlined the importance of regional diplomacy and non-interventionism as guiding principles of the current administration’s foreign policy.
He stressed that while the United States continues to monitor the situation closely, it does not intend to play an active role unless directly requested by both parties. “We strongly urge both India and Pakistan to prioritize dialogue over aggression,” Vance stated. “Peace in South Asia is vital, but it must be led and owned by those directly involved.”
The Vice-President’s remarks have sparked discussions among international observers and analysts, many of whom see his stance as a shift from previous US administrations that often played a more hands-on role in South Asian affairs.
Vance concluded by reiterating America’s commitment to global stability through diplomatic means, but added that not every international conflict requires direct American involvement.
